Legends of the Diamonds NES Game Cartridge
Legends of the Diamond was released for the NES in 1992. It was developed by Tose and published by Bandai. The game will feature playable simulations from 30 famous MLB players that include Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth. Six playable characters will be pitchers. They are Steve Carlton, Whitney Ford, Lefty Gomez, Dizzy Dean, Cy Young, and Bob Gibson. The game will offer exhibition mode and tournament mode. Before starting a game, a player will choose between the modern stadium, better for fielders and pitchers, and the old school baseball field, better for the batters. The simulated players will be programmed with their career stats from real players during their prime. Unlike other baseball simulators, the player will control all the fielding.
The player will control a pitcher at a view that is behind a batter instead of from behind a pitcher, like in some baseball games. The player will be able to throw three kinds of pitches. A pitching coach will interject if a player under performs. That feature is not available in most baseball video games from the 80s and 90s.
