Super Off Road NES Game Cartridge

Super Off Road was released for the NES in 1991. It was developed by Rare and published by Virgin Games. It was originally released in the arcades in 1989 with Ivan "Ironman" Stewart in the title. The NES port, along with some other ones, removed Ivan Stewart from the game’s title because of licensing issues.

During gameplay, up to four players, with the use of a Four Score or NES Satellite, can compete against one another or computer drivers in racing around many indoor tracks for off road trucks. The perspective of the tracks will be a top view and the tracks will increase in difficulty as gameplay progresses. There will be eight tracks with a total of 99 races. All the tracks will be raced on more than one time. If the player gets first place, they will earn points to proceed in the races for the championship and be able to use money to upgrade the ruck they are driving or use the money for more nitro. The racing goal is reaching the season’s end and having earned the most amount of money. Continues will be available but if one is used, the player’s money will reset to zero. It became one of the first video games where a player was able to upgrade their vehicle by earning money or points.
