Bases Loaded NES Game Cartridge
Bases Loaded, a baseball game, was released by Jaleco for the NES in 1987 for Japan and North America in 1988. It was released originally as an arcade game in Japan. There have been multiple ports to be released over the years. The first was for the Game Boy in 1990. In 2008, it was released for the Virtual Console for the Nintendo Wii. In 2013 and 2014, it was released  in Japan and North America for the Nintendo 3DS, respectively. The Nintendo Wii U port was released at the same as the 3DS port for North America, and released for Wii U in Japan later that year. Multiple sequels were released after this first installment of the series. It was carried on into the SNES before having the final game released for the Playstation and the Sega Saturn.

The player can choose between one of twelve teams in season mode or a single exhibition game. Two players is available for the single game mode. The game had at the time a television view of the pitcher and batter that was unique. It also has strong gameplay control and high level of realistic baseball play. While playing as the pitcher, the player could egg on the batter to rush the pitcher’s mound. Every team has an individual batter who could be egged on, and the player has to figure out which batter it is.

Not many games were licensed by major sports leagues, so the Bases Loaded teams were fictitious. The teams included were Boston, D.C., Hawaii, Jersey, Kansas, L.A., Miami, N.Y., Omaha, Philly, Texas, and Utah. Each team also had their strengths and weaknesses. The umpires also had names. Yuk was at home base, Dum was at first base, Boo at second base, and Bum at third base.
