Kid Kool and the Quest for the Seven Wonder Herbs was released for the NES in North America in 1990. It was published and developed by Vic Tokai. The main character of the game is based on an extremely famous, popular child actor in the 80’s from Japan, Kenji Sagara. It was also featured in GameCenter CX, a Japanese game show. The game is similar to the likes of Mario games. There also is a small creature that is red called Wicky the player can pick up that when thrown, it will destroy all enemies. Another game by Vic Tokai is DecapAttack and Psycho Fox by Sega are from the same type of games, having similar design and control.

The main character, Kid Kool, goes on a journey to retrieve seven herbs that are needed to cure the king from a sickness. The game gradually goes from day then night. This happens as the timer goes down, with every hour of gameplay changing the cycles of day and night. The game has multiple endings, and the ending is determined by how long the game takes to complete. The worst ending happens if it takes three hours or more and the king dies. The second worst ending gets the player a bag of money. The middle ending gives the player a sack of gold and a high up position among the kingdom. The second best ending gives the player a chest full of gems and marriage to the princess. The best ending gives the player a chest full of gems, marriage to the princess, and to be future king to rule the kingdom.
