The Little Mermaid NES Game Cartridge

The Little Mermaid was released for the NES in 1991. It was developed and published by Capcom. The player will take control of Ariel on an adventure to destroy Ursula, the evil sea witch. The game starts underwater, where the player is able to shoot bubbles for trapping their enemies and then throw them. The player can also dig in sand for finding treasure and picking up shells to use for opening treasure chests. The chests will have power ups that will increase the player’s bubble range and power. Icons that are scattered around the levels can be collected to restore the player’s health, gain an extra life, or increase bubble range or power. The gameplay will be similar to some other games made by Capcom like DuckTales and Chip ‘n Dale.

When starting a stage, the player will descend from the screen’s top to the starting point recommended for the NES, but will just begin at the recommended point in the version for Game Boy. The SFX featured will be different than the Game Boy’s also. The stage’s BGM when starting will only be played once on the NES game, but will be repeated for the version on Game Boy. The backgrounds for the stages will also be less restricted on the NES than Game Boy. When a heart is lost, it will turn into a frame of a heart.
